How to Feel Good When the World Is Bananas

Welp. There’s a lot of scary shit happening the world again. The Delta variant. Afghanistan. Forest fires.

My first impulse to all this bad news was to roll up the Summer of Pleasure and pack it away until next year.

But then I was like: Wait, what? When life feels like a raging dumpster fire is EXACTLY when we need to care for ourselves in meaningful ways. Which is what leaning into pleasure is all about!

So the Summer of Pleasure will carry on as planned!

There will friend dates and daily dance parties and time spent in the garden connecting to the earth.

There will be good books and afternoon naps and bottles of rosé.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: meaningful self-care is radical.

Prioritizing your own pleasure reinforces (to yourself and the world) that you matter. That you are worthy of care and love.

Meaningful self-care is also how you stay in the game instead of becoming burned out and apathetic. It’s how you stay energized and engaged enough to keep bringing the change you want to see in the world.

So here’s a reminder to keep being kind to yourself and infusing your life with joy in the face of all the stressful things happening right now.

XO!❤️
