Stressed About Your Body at the Holidays?
Christmas and Kwanza are a little over a week away. Hanukkah starts on Monday. The new year is right around the corner.
We’re right in the middle of the most celebratory part of the year. (Yay!)
And heading into the part of the year with the most bullshit messaging about our bodies. (Not so yay.)
Our social media feeds will soon be filled with a ridiculous amount of New Year, New You nonsense. Ads for diets, weight-loss programs, fitness routines and flat-tummy teas will harangue you everywhere you go.
To push back against all this toxic messaging, and remind you that you don’t need to change anything about your body, I recorded a podcast episode for you sharing:
What hyper-focusing on your appearance does to your physical and mental health
How it robs you of pleasure (including sexual pleasure)
What happens when you start making peace with your body
Some tools for moving towards body acceptance and body love as you navigate the holidays and beyond.
You don’t need to “earn” your holiday treats. Or burn off every holiday cookie you eat. Part of the beauty of this season is sharing our favorite, once-a-year foods with people we love.
Don’t deny yourself that pleasure.
As you move through the holidays, I invite you to practice savoring all the goodness of the season instead of fretting over everything you put in your mouth or how much exercise you’re getting.
Notice the pleasures that surround you at this time of year. The smell of holiday cookies baking. Waking up to the twinkling lights on a Christmas tree. Taking a walk in freshly fallen snow.
Happy Holidays & XO!❤️
